What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil premium is an allocation of funding from central government to support children who may be vulnerable to under-achievement. This funding aims to address inequalities and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in our nurturing and inclusive school community.
The funding is allocated based on the number of children who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Eligible for free school meals (FSM) currently or in the past six years, including families with no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
- Children looked after by local authorities (Looked-After Children)
- Children previously looked after by local authorities or other state care (Previously Looked-After Children)
How We Use the Pupil Premium Funding
At Radwinter CofE (VA) Primary School, we personalise the use of Pupil Premium funding to meet the unique needs of each eligible child, reflecting our vision of growing and learning together to embrace life in all its fullness. Our approach is rooted in fairness, kindness, and respect, values that underpin everything we do.
Examples of how we use this funding include:
- One-to-one tuition and small group interventions to boost learning progress
- Additional Learning Support Assistant (LSA) support within classrooms
- Learning mentor and counselling services to support emotional wellbeing
- Speech and language therapy support to aid communication skills
- Family support services to work alongside parents and carers
- Financial assistance for school uniform, music tuition, wraparound care, and school trips to ensure no child feels excluded
