Special Educational Needs
At Radwinter CofE (VA) Primary School, , we are committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can flourish. We recognise that each child is unique, with individual talents and needs, and it is our mission to support all pupils—including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)—to achieve their full potential and embrace life in all its fullness.
Our Approach to Special Educational Needs
Our SEN provision is guided by our Christian vision and values of fairness, kindness, respect, forgiveness, and service. These values underpin everything we do and ensure that every child feels valued, supported, and included within our loving Radwinter family.
We take a graduated approach to SEN support, starting with the Ordinarily Available inclusive practises embedded across the whole school. Where further support is needed, we develop One Plans and, if appropriate, support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This ensures tailored support that meets each child’s specific needs while promoting their independence and engagement in all aspects of school life.
Meet Our SENCO and Inclusion Leader
Our dedicated SENCO and Inclusion Leader, Lois Jarrold, plays a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing SEN provision throughout the school. Mrs Jarrold works closely with families, staff, and external agencies to ensure timely and effective support.

Supporting Emotional Wellbeing and Learning Readiness
We understand that emotional wellbeing is essential for effective learning. To support this, we provide dedicated breakout spaces including:
- The Hive
- The Retreat
- Dragonflies Room
These calm, safe environments allow children to develop emotional regulation and prepare themselves to engage fully in their learning. Additionally, our Forest School area and extensive outdoor spaces offer enriching non-classroom learning experiences that nurture curiosity and a love of nature.
Expertise and Training
Our staff are highly trained in supporting children with neurodiverse conditions and SEND. We are proud participants in the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) project, reflecting our commitment to understanding and embracing neurodiversity. This initiative supports us to continually improve our practice and ensure that all children’s needs are met with compassion and expertise.
Working in Partnership with Families and the Community
At Radwinter CofE (VA) Primary School, we believe in strong, collaborative partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community. We actively involve families in planning and reviewing their child’s progress. Our approach ensures that children with SEND are fully included in school activities alongside their peers, fostering friendships and a sense of belonging.
We also work closely with external agencies, including health and social care services, to provide holistic support.
