  • Community Engagement: Pupils participate in community service projects, such as food donations and charity events, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging them to contribute positively to society.
  • Celebration of Achievements: The school regularly celebrates pupils' achievements through assemblies and newsletters, recognising both academic and personal milestones, which reinforces the value of growth and accomplishment.
  • Spiritual Development: Daily collective worship and reflection time allow pupils to explore their spirituality and values, encouraging them to embrace a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
  • Parental Involvement: The school actively engages parents in their children's education through workshops and events, fostering a strong partnership between home and school that supports holistic development.
  • Empowerment through Leadership: Pupils are given opportunities to take on leadership roles, such as being part of the worship council, eco council or school council, empowering them to voice their opinions and influence school decisions.
  • Focus on Lifelong Learning: Staff model a commitment to lifelong learning by participating in professional development and sharing new ideas with pupils, instilling a love for learning and curiosity about the world.

These points demonstrate how Radwinter CofE (VA) Primary School embodies its vision in everyday practises and interactions, creating an environment where every child can thrive and embrace life in all its fullness

Values in action

Fairness

  • Equitable Treatment: Staff ensure that all children have equal access to resources and opportunities, such as differentiated learning materials tailored to individual needs, promoting fairness in education.
  • Conflict Resolution: Pupils are encouraged to resolve disputes through our restorative behaviour approach and discussion and mediation, fostering an environment where fairness is prioritised in interpersonal relationships.
  • Inclusive Activities: During school events, such as sports days, staff ensure that all pupils, regardless of ability, can participate in activities, demonstrating a commitment to fairness in competition.
  • Feedback and Recognition: Staff provide constructive feedback to all pupils, ensuring that praise and recognition are given fairly based on effort and improvement, not just outcomes.
  • Peer Support Systems: Older pupils mentor younger ones through buddy systems, ensuring that everyone feels included and valued, reflecting the value of fairness in community support.

Forgiveness

  • Restorative Practises: Staff implement restorative justice approaches when conflicts arise, encouraging pupils to express their feelings, seek forgiveness, and rebuild relationships.
  • Celebrating Second Chances: Teachers highlight stories of individuals who have overcome mistakes, reinforcing the importance of forgiveness and personal growth in classroom discussions.
  • Forgiveness in Action: Pupils are encouraged to apologise and forgive each other during conflicts, promoting a culture where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Classroom Agreements: Classes create agreements that include commitments to forgive and support each other, fostering an environment where everyone feels safe to make mistakes.
  • Reflection Activities: Pupils participate in reflection sessions where they discuss the importance of forgiveness and share personal experiences, reinforcing the value in their daily lives.

Kindness

  • Acts of Kindness: Pupils are encouraged to perform random acts of kindness, such as helping a classmate with their work or sharing resources, creating a supportive school environment.
  • Buddies: older and younger pupils are paired when pupils join us in Reception. This allows for the new pupils to feel settled and comfortable quicker and encourages all pupils to engage in acts of kindness thereby  fostering a strong sense of community and friendship.
  • Celebrating Kindness: The school regularly acknowledges and celebrates acts of kindness through assemblies and newsletters, highlighting the importance of this value in the school community.
  • Supportive Environment: Staff model kindness by being approachable and responsive to pupils’ needs, ensuring that every child feels valued and cared for.
  • Community Involvement: Pupils participate in community service projects, such as food donations or charity events, demonstrating kindness beyond the school and into the wider community.

Respect

  • Respectful Communication: Pupils are taught to use polite language and active listening skills during discussions, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect in the classroom.
  • Cultural Appreciation: Staff incorporate lessons on different cultures and traditions, encouraging pupils to respect and celebrate diversity within their school community.
  • Respect for Learning: Pupils show respect for their learning environment by taking care of school property, following classroom rules, and respecting the learning needs of others.
  • Role Models: Staff serve as role models by demonstrating respectful behaviour in their interactions with colleagues, pupils, and parents, reinforcing the importance of respect in all relationships.
  • Peer Recognition: Pupils are encouraged to recognise and appreciate each other’s strengths and contributions during group work, promoting a respectful and collaborative learning environment.

Service

  • Classroom Helpers: Pupils take on roles as classroom helpers, assisting teachers and supporting their peers, demonstrating a commitment to serving their school community.
  • Service Learning Projects: The school uses its curriculum to connect classroom learning with real-world community needs, allowing pupils to apply their skills in areas such as environmental conservation (e.g. litter picking), designing products to help the environment (e.g. birdboxes) or supporting local charities, thereby instilling a sense of responsibility and commitment to serving others.
  • Acts of Service: The school encourages pupils to identify needs within the school or community and take action.
  • Parent and Community Involvement: The school actively involves parents and community members in service projects, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and commitment to serving others.
