Captain Tom 100 Maths Day

We had an exciting day filled with maths and fun to honour and celebrate Captain Tom Moore.  Click on the links below the White Rose banner to find your home maths challenges.

We enjoyed so many great books today. 'The Hundred Decker Bus' was our favourite!

We strung 100 Cherrios on a very long piece of string and found ways to keep track of our counting. Some children are going to hang their cheerios in our forest school area to help feed our birds. Other children are looking forward to eating their 100 cheerios!

Some hedgehogs created a a game called '100 jenga'!

We created our very own 'Hundred Decker Bus'. When we complete it we think it will go all the way into Swallow class!

We looked at lots of differents groups of 100. We compared them and talked about what we noticed. We thought about how inconvenient it is to carry 100 pennies in our purse and decided that a £1 coin is much better. We were very surprised to see what 100 loom bands looked like

The Great Fire of London

We had an exciting delivery. We received a mysterious box sent to us by the six ravens of the Tower of London. We had learned so much about London before half-term and could not believe that the six ravens knew where Radwinter school was and how to find Hedgehog Class! In the box was a burnt piece of bread, a chunk of cheese and some questions on old, singed paper. We’ve been working hard to answer the questions and find out about this shocking fire.

We have been learning a song about The Great Fire Of London. Click on the link if you’d like to learn it too. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J5eVlKWSHAA

World Book Day 2021

We enjoyed a day full of fun and excitement! Our focus book this year was ‘The Colour Monster’. We made feeling bottles, painted feeling pictures and became authors for the day.

Welcome to Hedgehog Class

Hedgehog Class is a happy space where children can explore, create and thrive.  We take risks and learn from our mistakes.  We respect each other and show pride in our achievements and the achievements of everyone we learn with. Our classroom is a warm and inviting space and we plan our learning and activities based on the children's interests and ideas.  We truly value outdoor learning and have our very own Forest School space to enjoy weekly sessions. Most of all, we truly enjoy learning together.  As one member of our class said, 'we aren't just friends in Hedgehog Class, we are like a family.'

Box Day

We enjoyed reading the book, ‘Not a Box’ and finished our first half-term with a Box Day! We made trains, cars, shelters, beds and surfboards. We found out that some ways of joining materials work better and we persevered with our designs to bring our ideas to life!

Peace Is In Our Hands

Hedgehog Class marked Remembrance Day in many ways. We had thought provoking chats and the children were concerned and empathetic for all those who sacrificed for our freedom.  We found out that many animals also sacrificed for our freedom.
